Your Soul Urge Number is calculated by considering only the vowels in your name (A, E, I, O, U and sometimes Y when it sounds like a vowel). Each vowel corresponds to a number, and these are added together then reduced to a single digit.

The Vowel-Number Conversion:

* Y is considered a vowel when it makes a vowel sound (as in "Lynn" or "Mary") but not when it makes a consonant sound (as in "yellow").

For example, let's calculate the Soul Urge Number for "JANE SMITH":

  1. Vowels in JANE: A, E = 1 + 5 = 6
  2. Vowels in SMITH: I = 9
  3. Total: 6 + 9 = 15
  4. Reduce to a single digit: 1 + 5 = 6
